Night game drives aren't permitted in the Serengeti, so the drive out to the launch site in the last dark of the morning is often the only chance to spot nocturnal wildlife before the balloon lifts at first light.

- Tarangire — flies year-round
- Ruaha — Jul–Aug only (peak season)
